12 Week Wellness Challenge: Drinking Water

Hello and Happy Monday! Another weekend of glorious sunny days which make the world seem brighter and happier. It’s time for another weekly update. This weeks challenge was to increase how much water I drink on a daily basis. If you want to read more about my wellness challenge you can read it here

The Challenge

This one might seem a bit strange choice for a weeks focus however there are lots of benefits of drinking water. Approximately 60% of our bodies are made up of water so it makes sense to keep yourself topped up, helps digestion, keeps your joints moving, helps with focus and concentration, helps with fatigue and tiredness and gives you a glowing complexion. I wanted to increase how much I drank to over 2 litres each day. I have a 750ml reusable water bottle on my desk as I find I drink more with a bottle than a glass.

How did I do

Apart from one day I did increase how much I drank, so I am taking this week as a success. I didn’t wait until I felt thirsty I made sure that I kept it with me, so in meetings and on the train. My energy levels feel better and I definitely feel more alert. I slept better and received compliments on how my skin looked a lot clearer. By the end of the week I did feel like I had made a worthwhile investment in myself with a simple change. On the day where I didn’t drink as much water I could feel a difference and felt quite tired, so much so that I had a nap when I came home after work. I also regularly have cramp in my leg due to sciatica and all week I didn’t feel anything which was great.

This coming weeks challenge is about reading for at least 30 minutes each day. I am really looking forward to this challenge and already have a pile of books ready to start.
