This month is 2 years since I started this little ole blog. Happy 2nd Birthday! When I first started this blog I originally wanted to solely focus on nutrition, health coaching and hopefully a business, as I was doing a course on nutrition at the time. Oh how things have changed! Two years on I see it as a hobby but one that I love spending time on. I have learnt a lot since starting out and this post is about sharing the last two years with you.
Blogging is hard and rewarding work! I love the process of creating a post from brainstorming about topics, to the published post. There are many different skills to learn and develop which is great because I always feel like I am learning something. I love reading other blogs and using that as a way of pushing myself to improve. At times I can struggle with comparing myself to bigger and more established bloggers, even though I know everyone is at different stages of their journey. You should never compare your start to someone elses middle!
I used to think that one day I could turn this blog into something of a full time gig however the last two years have taught me it takes a lot of time and energy to get anywhere near that. I love having something for myself with no pressure that relying on it would bring. Plus I really like the stability of knoowing how much and when I will get paid from a job. I also love leading and working with people.
The Blogging Community –
The blogging community is one that I have found to be supportive, positive and friendly. I have a few people who I speak to every few weeks online and also meet some fabulous woman for a drink and catch up on a monthly basis. It’s nice to have people in your corner who understand the world of running a blog but also why you want to do it in the first place. I have seen some drama on social media between bloggers however I don’t get involved and just scroll or unfollow. I have been to a few events which I have thoroughly enjoyed but found myself a little shy and felt like I was not a real blogger. This is something that with time I have felt more at ease with.
The future –
I still get a buzz when someone reads my posts and either relates or engages with me because of it. The more time I spend creating and writing the happier it makes me feel, so it’s time for me to let my blog become a grown up. I have thought long and hard about what I want to do. The first thing I am doing is go self hosted as of the end of this week! At the same time I will also be having a little rebrand and change my blogs name to FabulouslyUnapologetic.com. (It isn’t live yet!) I want to explore and start a discussion about some of the issues that woman face, spotlight incredible woman and their achievements, plus continuing with lifestyle, travel and everything else!
I want to feel passionate about what I write on here and make sure that I provide you lovely readers some value. I really think that the new name does this for me and hopefully reminds woman that they do not need to apologise for being in the room.
I would love to hear what type of content you would like to read about!
