Blogtober Day 2: All About Me

I thought it would be fun to get up close and personal and tell you some things about myself. Well not too up close and personal because a good thing to know about me is that I have personal space and will let you in I like you. None of this casually standing on my feet, thank you very much. Get back into your own space.

The Basics:

I’m 38 years old, I have green eyes and dark hair.

I love to read and write. I really love crime novels and always try and figure it out before the end of the book. For the last few years I have been reading more personal development books as I find people and growth fascinating!

I work as a team manager and have done so for years. I love the challenge of managing people but really if I can help develop or help people then even better. I currently work in insurance which kills any further interest as quite a dry subject.

I work in Leeds and live near Skipton so the commute can sometimes be a pain in the ass. I do get the best of both worlds of working in the city and having the country on my doorstep. I try and get in to the Yorkshire Dales as much as I can.

I have a partner who has two children and I love them all very much. I don’t want children myself and that’s a whole other post in itself!

Likes & Dislikes:

I love listening to music and would much rather have music on then the TV. I have an eclectic taste in music from Frank Sinatra to 90s RnB. The decade I love the most musically is the 90s.

I hate mushrooms in a big way. They are slimy and I don’t get them. They should be banned!

I don’t really understand what soup is all about. It’s neither a food nor a drink so struggle to get on board with it. Occasionally I will have it but prefer for it to be homemade.

I hate how most trains smell…. like a toilet

I love laughing and making people laugh. Although most of the time it’s not intentional

I like to travel and see other cultures day to day living. I do also like to sit by a pool or beach for a few days.

Other Things Good to Know:

I like to think of myself as a good and loyal friend. I have a smaller circle of close friends and love them dearly. Woe betide anyone who crosses a good friend of mine.

I don’t tolerate fools or most people. So, the thing with people is, when I think of the general public I think as a group we can be mean and a little bit stupid, erhm Brexit and trolling in social media to name a few…. however I do think the majority of people are inherently good and kind.

Being kind and compassionate are two important qualities to me. You don’t always have to agree or like what the other person has done, said or going through. I think a little kindness goes a long way!

I’m a little like a magpie in that I love shiny, sparkly things.

I can swing widely between caring about what people think and not. It’s a work in progress.

When I’m really tired I mix up words and generally don’t function very well. I need my sleep!

Whilst I will try and empathise I rarely sit on the fence. I usually say what’s on my mind but will adapt for the person or conversation.

I’m a nightmare when tired and if I’m hangry I never mean what I say.

Hopefully that’s given you an idea of what I’m like as a person. What are your likes & dislikes? What’s important to you?
