National Parks Week 2017

As you may have seen from my Instagram feed this week I have been celebrating National Parks Week (24th July – 30th July) and I would not be doing my inner Leslie Knope justice if I didn’t share why National Parks are amazing.

Leslie Knope

I live approx 30 minutes drive from the Yorkshire Dales and last year we made a conscious decision to move closer to the Dales as ultimately that’s where we want to be.

There is something wonderful about having so much open green space around us and I do feel that spending time there is good for your soul. It’s a place for families to spend time together, communities can come together or you can go for a solo visit. I always feel so refreshed and revitalised after spending time walking and finishing off with a delicious pub lunch!

I love Malham, it has a beautiful village and you could easily spend the day here. Janet’s Foss pictured below is not far from the actual cover and definitely worth the walk.

Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival happens every August and is such a fun day out. All of the residents take part and they do put on a fabulous display for the kids and maybe some adults too! We will definitely be there again this year

Bolton Abbey – it would be completely remiss of me to not mention this place. It is £10 in to the car park however it is worth it as you can easily spend the day here. There is a welly walk to do with activities for the kids whilst you walk round, a beautiful Abbey to explore, lots of open space to have a picnic and play games. It holds a special place in my heart as my best friend got married in its grounds.

I could write about the benefits of being outside and spending time in green open spaces all day. Hopefully this has given you some inspiration to get outdoors.

Where do you go to get outside and spend time with nature?
