Last week we all had a week off together and whilst we were spending the week at home we wanted to get out into the countryside. I have written a few times how much I love us all getting out and how good it is for your wellbeing, so its an obvious choice for us.
Our first day out was for a treasure hunt in North Yorkshire. The treasure hunts are from Treasure Trails and cost £6.99 to download. You are given a printable download then you set off part walking and driving , picking up the clues up as you go along. We found a village that had unicorns everywhere on the buildings which made it fun for us and the kids. Once you have finished you then have to enter your answers in to the website to see if you have collected the right answers. We definitely enjoy doing these as it gets us into different parts of county that we might not go to and its a day in the out doors in the sunshine.
The weather was dreadful at home on Monday however we were really fortunate as our treasure hunt started in Thirsk and the weather was gorgeous. From Thirsk we went to little villages such as Kilburn, Coxwold and Sowerby to name a few. Discovering some of the cutest villages in North Yorkshire was just as much fun as collecting the clues. We got to see the white horse of Kilburn, cottages with a little stream at the end of the garden and some gliders setting off. There were a few coffee stops and I had packed a picnic so we were well fed and watered throughout the day. By the time bedtime had come round the kids were tired from all the walking and searching they had done.
It was a great family day out without a device in sight and that is well worth £6.99 to me!
